House of hope

A woman blinded by the darkness, lost because of the enemy and broken hearted found hope for her 3 day old daughter Tavitha at the Asha house. My team has now spent 3 days at the Asha house and have had a great time, teaching English and getting to know the children. but there was one little girl in particular that had me hooked day one. there was just one problem, she did not like foreigners! Tavitha want to play with all the other children and be apart of everything but she did not want you to talk to her or even touch her. this broke my heart and made me want to love on her like no one had ever done before. so that is just what i did. i started on her level by letting her put coconut oil in my hair like her care takers had done for her just moments before, then she again was on her way.  While I helped out the 6 children that were in “my class” she sat near by and colored in her coloring book.

I have spent some time in prayer that the Lord would just open the hearts of the people of India and prepare their hearts like he had done just months before for my team and I, and seeing as how God is a god that stands by his word this is just what he did. after class while playing with the children Tavitha ran up to me with arms wide open waiting to be picked up. Awww the break through, oh how I waited for this moment. It was worth the wait, 3 days of loving on her and gaining her trust all for 5 minutes of what I would call heaven in my arms!

1 o’clock rolled around….lunch time. On an average day Tavitha would run to her room and wait for her bottle and to be tucked in to her bed. But today was different, Tavitha brought me 2 plates and then sat down in my lap, she was going to have lunch with me. So Tavitha sat and had lunch with me, my team and all the other children. While eating lunch the adults that work at the Asha house were all staring and talking, this is when I was told that Tavitha does not like foreigners! She has never sat to eat lunch with the others and has definitely never even wanted to sit with anyone else other than the women that work at the Asha house. What a feeling! After  lunch and some more playing Tavitha began to wine and cry so I picked her up rocked her and sang to her. It was all of maybe 10 minutes before she was out like a light.
You see it was not me that Tavitha was drawn too. I was just a vessel being used to show her the unfailing love of her Abba. It is God who wants Tavitha to smile, to play and to eat in his light! He wants her to know the way, the truth, the light! So today while you go about your day remember that your heart, mind and soul are not yours, but rather they belong to the creator and you are the vessel for his love!
