Just another day in India

There are pigs everywhere here and it has been my constant desire to catch one.

The other afternoon after we finished teaching preschool, my team and I were walking to lunch. As I focused on dodging traffic, one of my teammates ran into the middle of the road. And then I saw it: a tiny little black piglet caught in front of a city bus. She punched her fist to the sky and motioned at the bus to stop then squatted down to grab the pig. But the pig dashed off, going under the bus. She panicked and scooted back. So I ran forward without hesitation and scooped the little guy up.

As I held him in my hands he didn’t even squeal. So I brought him over to the side of the road and told him, “Be free, little one!” But he started to wonder back out into the road. So I picked him up again and carried him over a puddle, to a safe distance from the road. My teammates cheered for him as I set him down again. I felt like the whole world should errupt in applause. He started to scurry off, a little scared, when all of the sudden these two men passing by kicked him in the head.

Then entire team screamed, “No!” in unison. But then, can you believe it, they kicked it again! At that, everyone thew their arms into the air and yelled, “WHAT THE! What are you doing? Stop!” They stared at us, very confused as to why it was completely absurd to kick a baby pig in the face. So we stood there and made sure our little pig friend made it safely home.

I should probably relate this to J3sus right? Well uh, we are the pigs and J-man picks us up right before we run under the Bus of Doom. Just when we’ve made it to safety, the demons come in and kick us in the face. But J3sus will always help us cross the puddles and get back to the herd 🙂
