Because we have not had preschool the last week and a half, we’ve been able to “rest” a little and be home in the early afternoons. We are still keeping busy believe me, but it has been wonderful to rest up and spend some time here at the house. What I have cherished the most about this little “break” is building a stronger relationship with the people here at the house and the women along the beach.
One woman in particular that I have grown to love and adore is the woman who cleans the guest house here where we stay. Her name is Auntie and she is the sweetest Indian woman. She loves to talk about the Lord and how powerful He is. She is so proud of her daughter who is pregnant with her first grand baby and goes on and on about how great God is to bless her so much. She does everything as unto the Lord. She is completely selfless and puts others before herself. Auntie is a wonderful example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She works hard and never complains. I have only ever her heard thank the Lord. And just like any woman, she loves chocolate and if someone leaves a bar open in their room, she says, “I might only have a little”.
I have really enjoyed being able to spend time with her Auntie at the house. In the afternoons she makes me chai. My roommate and I attempted to make it one afternoon and we had the audacity to give it to a couple of our Indian friends. However…….. they kindly told us we needed to perfect it and practice making it a couple more times before we decided to give it to anyone else! haha After this failure, Auntie decided to teach me how to make chai the right way. She warned me though saying, “don’t tell anyone I taught you or they will always ask you to make them tea every afternoon”.
The last few days she has given me chai and as we sit, talk, eat biscuits, and drink our tea, she ministers to me unknowingly. Our little tea parties have become such a joy. Auntie has actually blessed me more than she knows. She blesses me with the way she gently holds my hand as we sit and talk. She blesses me as she shares the stories of how God has worked in her life and her children. She blesses me with the way she lovingly pours out to others what so little she has to offer. She blesses me with the way she works so diligently for the Lord. He blesses me with our “tea parties” She blesses me for who she is! I am so thankful for Auntie. She has taught me so much. And she really does minister to me unknowingly. Our “tea parties” have been so much fun and I love talking with her.
Lord, I am so thankful for Auntie!
