Um, can I have some personal space please?

Personal space. I kind of like mine. Don’t get me wrong. I love hugs and other forms of affection but when you stand too close to me or are yelling at me to get my attention, I just cannot handle it.

We decided to spend our Team Bonding Day venturing outside of Dwarka and into a more tourist filled market. The metro was our form of transportation. My expectations weren’t that high for this ride. I thought it was going to be dirty and really bumpy. Well, it wasn’t. Instead it was super clean and very smooth. When we got on the train it was empty. We were able to sit down and even take some pictures. I took at second to glance at the map and realized that we had a mere 20 stops until our destination. I actually did not even care at this point because the experience and everything was still fresh. By the time we were half way though, we had given up our seats and were standing shoulder-to-shoulder and super crammed.

After eating KFC, the team decided to go and find a certain market that Wilson had told us about. So, 15 minutes later we find ourselves in front of some random store and our motor rickshaws bailed. Wondering the streets trying to get back lead us to the Visitors Center where we met this girl named Kelly from Colorado. Have no fear, we walked for another 30 minutes and finally made it back to the metro.

Before boarding we decided to go explore the underground markets. Talk about overwhelming!!!! Not only is it boiling hot down there but imagine being yelled at from every angle. My personal space and comfort were striped away.

I’ve thought of an analogy for this situation. Just as I was being yelled at while I was trying to shop and think straight, that is like the worldly distractions. They try and take your focus off of God, to the point that you become flustered, annoyed and freaked out. I encourage you to ignore the worldly distractions and put your full focus on the Lord because when you do that, a sense of calm fills your heart and mind and you know that in God’s arms there is no need to worry about personal space or awkward discomfort. He loves us and that’s all that should matter.
