Roll That Camera…NO Cut!

Our first task as a team during training camp was to go out into downtown Atlanta and talk to people we meet.  There was really no directions, we had a certain area of downtown to stick to, but other than that we could do whatever we wanted.  We also had one dollar per person to do whatever we wanted to with.  We walked around without a clear sense of direction until this called us over to her because she recognized that we were her angels.  This is the name she called us by the entire time we were with her.  Binett was quite the interesting character.  She was...

Setting India on Fire!

Hey everyone!  So, the day is finally here! We are leaving for the airport this afternoon, and then it is off to India! Training camp was such a great experience, and our team really started to become a family. These past four days we did team building activities, tons of AMAZING worship, and had sessions on preparing for our trip. This week also helped our team realize our goals for the women we will be working with in India. We are ready to set India on fire! Our hopes are that these women would know that God is their warrior and that they are his beloved. We are so ready to start...

It is done

It is done.  I realize these are strange words to summarize the beginning of my experience, but that is the phrase that I keep hearing.  I came to Atlanta carrying more than a giant suitcase, backpack, and a sleeping bag- I was also carrying a myriad of personal issues.  The thing about burdens is that after a while you don’t even realize you’re carrying them.  Regardless, the Lord has used the past few days to remove some of the burdens I’ve been carrying for years.  For example, on the first night we were instructed to go out on the streets and...

Sisters in Spirit

Traveling is one of my passions. I would live out of a suitcase if it meant seeing new and exciting things all of the time. However these past few weeks I feel like I have been going, going, going. A recent family vacation (prior to training camp for my mission trip to India) seemed like an awesome idea at the beginning of summer. Somewhat like one last hoorah with my family before we say goodbye for the summer. The trip was amazing and worthwhile, but it left me exhausted getting to training camp. My body was physically and emotionally drained. However, slowly I could feel my soul being...

Speak O Lord

Flashback to the preceding couple weeks before training camp: as anticipation builds in my mind and heart there is excitement but as the same time, a frustrating feeling of dread that I cannot shake. The same string of thoughts keep plaguing me; “God, my life is in no way shape or form in order, and I have absolutely no idea what I am getting into. How can you use me to speak your love to other women when I feel like I am all over the place?”  Now come forward to Saturday night worship service in a auditorium full of flags from around the worlds and young men and women of...
