A Night Watcher’s Prayer

This past Monday, the people of India celebrated one of their many Hundu holidays, Holi Day.  Although I do not even think a large majority of the people knew the true significance of the god they were celebrating, but this is one of their most largely celebrated holiday that everyone takes part in.  My team and I new there would be a lot of idol worshipping taking place and spiritual warfare would likely be heavy.  We decided to do what is called a night watch all night Sunday night through Monday morning.  We would take shifts throughout the night praying for the...

Sickness, Song, Surrender

Just when you think you are bigger than the place God has called you to, sickness strikes. Yes, I was thrown off my high horse and made completely vulnerable before God. I remember thinking death can only be a little ways away. As I lay there the first night, completely out of energy, strength and life, I thought okay God if this is where you want to take me down to, then so be it.  Earlier before I got sick, I was fighting it off big time and thinking to myself that I was going to be strong and not let this sickness take control of me. Honeymoon’s Over

The honeymoon phase, we’ve all experienced it in some form or fashion.  My time in India is now 1/3 way complete.  I met my amazing team and began this incredible journey one month ago.  Though I felt this “honeymoon phase” drawing to an end the last couple weeks, I am certain this past week it ended.  And this isn’t a bad thing by any means, just where the real challenges begin, which means real growth. Hosea 3:1     “The lord said to me ” Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another and is an adulteress, love her as I have loved the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the scared rasin cakes.”      Hosea was a man of great faith and when the Lord called him to marry a woman who he knew was going to be unfaithful to him, he did it anyways because God had called him to do it. And when Gomer, Hosea’s wife, was unfaithful and placed herself in a demonic world, a world of prostitution, Hosea did...

Why India?

(Phew! It’s way past time I posted a blog!) Why India? I was once again recently asked why I wanted to go on a mission’s trip to India.  And once again, I didn’t have an answer.  At least, one I wasn’t ashamed of. In my mind, India was uncharted territory.  No one in my family, or close friends had ever been.  Few, if any, could give me advice on what it would be like or what to expect. I did receive some advice, but for the most part, it was minimal.   And that was what I wanted. I didn’t want to go to Africa because that’s where...
