Let me share with you what we call “Scary Cookies.” These,
my friends, are cookies with horribly grotesque looking faces on each side.
They are cream filled and the cream oozes out their eyes–making a scary cookie
even more…well, scary. These along with Tiger cookies, Jim Jams, Crackies,
Krack Jacks, ect… have become a constant in my life over the past few weeks. I
say this not to worry parents. They are feeding us here. We eat very well and
the cook, Thomas, loves to feed us and loves to take requests. However, for
some reason India has had a bad reaction on me…as well as some of my friends.
We now eat all the time!! 3 square meals…CHECK!! Cookies in between…CHECK!!
Oh and don’t forget the peanut butter, the mentos, the cakes from Temptation (a
local restaurant), the chocolate, and the chips. Oh wait. Hold on. Did I
mention the 2 boxes of cereal I went though this week…okay don’t judge me. Haha.
I don’t know what it is, but something about India has forced me into snack frenzy.
And it does not help that we eat rice or potatoes with every meal…sometimes
rice with potatoes on special days. Yet we are never full! We talk about
cookies, we dream about cookies, we sit around eating dinner and think about
the cookies that we’d like to have later. I can’t explain it, I’m just here to
state a fact, but last night it escalated to a new extreme. Once my friend and
I returned to our room last night after dinner we immediately started pulling
out the cookies. We ate all of my cookies, her mentos, and the rest of my
cereal…all the while discussing what we would have for lunch the next
day—and whether or not we should get a cake from Dominoes or wait until we
got to Coffee Day for a desert…after we had finished eating our pizza for
lunch of course. Haha. I don’t know how it got to this point, but it certainly
caused quite a lot of laughter last night…right when we really needed it.
That is all. No deep meaningful blog for me this week. Just
a word on our favorite topic of choice…cookies…and also a note for our
friends and family back home to just try to have some grace for us. We’ve been
working really hard this summer…and if we choose to eat some cookies every
now and then…(to put a spin on Marie Antoinette’s famous quote) let us have our cookies. haha
