Today my heart aches, but not like it use to. Today my heart breaks and cries out for the people of this world who choose to make their life theirs. I want to share with you this little girl’s story in hopes that she will receive your prayers.
Bright eyed and all smiles, she stands boldly staring the world in the eyes. At all of ten years old, Raelynn falls to her knees in tears. Today this little girl takes on the weight of her mother as her grandmother sits her down and explains to her that once again, her mother has left a promise unfulfilled. Her mother had checked out of drug and alcohol rehab early and returned to her life on the streets with her abusive and drug addicted husband.
As Raelynn begins to cry and shake in fear that her mother may never see the light of Jesus, she begins to question her purpose here and asks, “Why does my mother not love me, why did she ever have children?” The words of a fearful and helpless child. Her grandmother, unsure of how to cope, continues on raising and loving ten year old, Raelynn, and her six year old brother, Chase.
You see, your life is not yours, and Love is not flesh. Everyday that you wake up and are able to take another breath is God granted, and everyday we are all given a choice. We can choose to do what is right or what is easy. Your life is more than you and always will be. We can choose to do what is easy in hopes of getting the job done, but know that taking the easy way out is selfish.
Raelynn’s grandmother’s life is not easy, and Raelynn’s grandmother’s choice to raise her daughter’s children was everything but selfish. At one point in her life, Raelynn’s mother chose to do what was easy and of the world, and because of this, the enemy has made her a slave of this world. No one can begin to put into words how great God’s love is. By choosing to do what is right and by making your every move reflect Christ, you’re choosing to make your life HIS.
Prayer is powerful and now that God has allowed each of you to hear a small part of Raelynn’s story, I ask that you take this opportunity, and even if just for one minute, ask the Lord to show up in mighty ways in this little girl and her mother’s life.
