Hi friends!! 🙂
So this is pretty much the same post that I made on my team blog, and so now I am posting this as a “first blog” on my adventure with the Lord to India!
I am from Dallas, Texas and one of 6 in my family. I have 3
sisters, so yes my dad is the only male in the house. My dad has been a pastor
my whole life and so I have been raised in an incredible Christian home where
the love is bountiful. My mom has been a stay at home mom most my life, but for
the past 5 years has also taken on working at the Container Store. My older
sister is a sophomore at Texas Tech, and I have two younger sisters, one going into 9th
grade and one in 8th. Random lists of things that make me alive:
Jesus, coffee, poptarts, relationships, Christmas sweaters, outdoors,
mix CD’s, dancing, devotion, Elf, opportunities, itunes, rest, rock climbing,
biking, sunshine, family, pie crust, spoons, pen pals, YoungLife, thrift
stores, connections, camp fire, painting, crafts, bible, pit stops,
kids, service. Ok, this list could go on and on, but this is just a small glimpse of what goes through my head and my
heart most days. The Lord has blessed me with so much joy in my life, how can
it now overflow into my personality?
I
have had opportunities all throughout my life to be a leader, whether I was
aware of it or not. I am called as a disciple, as we are all disciples of the Lord, to radically abandon myself, my
thoughts, my desires, and serve for the kingdom. That is something that
I strive to live by. I want to invest, pour, and love on His people more than
what the world has/can know, because our treasure is rich in heaven! Because where my
treasure is, there my heart will be also. I love the opportunity to love
because the Lord has so divinely loved us and I will glorify His name and I
will love those who have no voice and who need to be constantly reminded of the
marriage that we are promised to have in the Lord when we TRUST. I never want
to say I am done learning about the Lord and his plans for me and where He is calling
me, I want to constantly love and live and be joyful in Him! God has called us
to live in relationships with one another, to invest in one another, and to
build each other up. I have been wired for people, to love people, and for
relationships. I strive for it, I find so much joy in it and I show my love for
the Lord through it. I hope to continue that throughout this life and all of it
for the kingdom to come! I have been involved in mission work pretty much all
of my life because of my dad being a youth pastor. The older I got, I noticed
that it was all about surrendering yourself and your comforts in order to let
God work through you. And it’s really really fun! I have had a lot of opportunities to not only serve
outside of our community, but also inside it as well. To those that He has
given much, He expects much. It’s not only about selfless service, but also
about selfless giving. Through serving the ones that He has so much compassion
for us; missions that He has called us to live out. We are called to be the
voice to those who have no voice, and to show them hope when they are lacking.
We are to go out to the diseased, hungry, homeless, and show them LOVE, and
that is our mission. To give it all in love.
I seriously am SO excited for our trip in 8 days!!!!! Let the Lord DO work!
