Our first task as a team during training camp was to go out into downtown Atlanta and talk to people we meet. There was really no directions, we had a certain area of downtown to stick to, but other than that we could do whatever we wanted. We also had one dollar per person to do whatever we wanted to with. We walked around without a clear sense of direction until this called us over to her because she recognized that we were her angels. This is the name she called us by the entire time we were with her. Binett was quite the interesting character. She was eating dinner as we walked up, but wanted to talk to us more than she wanted to eat. Binett told us some hard stories from heartache in her life and encouraged us with some dance moves and songs. She taught us the stanky leg and some MC hammer moves. About an hour after she started talking to us, we left and went to buy her some water, but the only place to buy water that late at night was the liquor store. She happened to see us go in there and was highly offended that her angels would be in the liquor store. She was just such a joyful spirit who found so much life and happiness in such a broken place. She encouraged me that although the women we may encounter in India may have been broken and beaten, that we can still encourage them and love them so that they might experience pure joy and hopefulness.
