Starbursts of Light

There seems to be an overall theme for this week.  The theme being Light versus dark!  I served at the flat with all the ladies who come in from the slums to sew, stitch, macramé, and learn skills to be able to provide for their family.  While being there this week, we were able paint the workshop, making it come alive with color and vibrancy.  The home for the ministry was transformed!  After the paint job was finished, the woman came into class glowing because of the change, splash of color and life.  The Lord used this to remind me of how we are that light and we are in a sense splashing their lives with color and transforming their lives, transforming their spiritual life.  Not by our own strength or power but by Christ’s power in us!

And again, I saw, felt and heard the battle between Light and dark as we went on our prayer walk on Saturday.  We spent a day going to different temples in the mountains of Old Goa seeing for our own eyes and hearing with our own ears the way Hindus and the people of India worship. Upon entering, there was such a dark presence that it almost made me sick.  But the Lord reminded me of who He is and who I am in Him, and I was able to pray boldly for the people.  As we visited, under my breath I would pray that the True Light would be seen in that place.  My prayer was that they would know that there is only ONE TRUE GOD!  A real God.  A God who desires a relationship.  A God who died and rose again.  A God who heals.  A God who restores.  A God who answers.  A God who knows them.  A God who’s omnipresent.  A God who gives peace. A God who defeated death.  A God who gives eternal life and SO MUCH MORE than what any ugly man-made idle has to offer.

Before this week even began, on Sunday the Lord laid this theme of “Light versus darkâ€ upon my heart.  As He did I began to write.  Not knowing that I would share for all to see, I wrote a little paragraph and now I feel that it would be very fitting share.

Hearts are tattered.  Homes are crumbling.  Sickness chokes.  Poverty strikes.  Brokenness apparent.  Chains are binding.  Faces of cold hearts stare.  Unspeakable acts creep throughout all hours.  Sin is evident.  Darkness lurks in every corner.   Yet, little starbursts of light mingle in the cracks. That light is Christ in me!  Christ in us!  I’m Christ representative!  We carry that Light!  In the midst of darkness, pain, hurt and brokenness, there’s a small ray of Light.  That Light may be small and minute now.  But, as we stay hooked up to Christ, seeing through His eyes, feeling the way He feels, that starburst of Light is going to grow and become a beam bursting forth, causing darkness to flee.  Strongholds will be broken!  Hearts will be made new!  Homes will be restored!  Sickness will cease.  People will commit to living a life of holiness!  And miracles we never imagined will be performed.  We are that starburst of Light!

John 1:5

The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

John 11:10

“If anyone walks in the night he stumbles, because the Light is not in him.

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world.  A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father on heaven.â€

Isaiah 61:1-3

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God,  To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning.  The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.â€

This week has been a great one and I am proud to call myself a “starburstâ€ in the midst of a battle of Light versus dark!  I am proud to be God’s ambassador!  I am proud to be that light in a dark place.  I am proud of to be a child of the One True God and to be used by Him!

I am His light and for Him I will shine bright!!
