These Hands Will Heal

Monday was our last full day of training camp. After an early breakfast, all 100-something of us fire-breathing missionaries gathered in the meeting hall for our last worship together. As we took our seats, the director of training camp stood up and asked us to quiet down. He suggested we take a moment to stand in silence and listen for the Lord to speak. As we stood there, it was completely silent–except for the faint whispering of the Holy Spirit. In a very clear voice I heard the Lord say to me, “You will heal Alison tonight.”

Alison has acid reflux disease. It’s triggered when eating spicy, greasy, and fried foods. In other words, these next two months might be difficult for her digestive system.
So after much anticipation, nighttime came. We stood as a team in a small room while Alison lay on a table in the center of us. I looked into her eyes, grabbed her left hand with both of mine, and smiled. Because of the authority I’ve been given, I have the power to do much greater things than even Christ Himself. And as I began to pray, the words rolled off my tongue before I could catch them. I spoke with confidence and hope, knowing the Lord would heal tonight. When I finished praying, with the girls circled around me, I heard that faint whispering again.
“She is healed.”
“Is that you, Lord?”
“Yes, she is healed.”
