What We’re Up To

Hello family and friends!

Hope this update finds you well! My team just got back from Bangalore which is where we did our debrief and visited/helped out with a school there for a few days. Those kids call us “auntie” instead of “teacher” like in the slum. The school is a completely different atmosphere than in the slum, but God is definitely working in both!

Tonight the 6 of us girls watched Slumdog Millionaire and it was so fun! Seeing the little kids in it made me very happy that we get to go back to the slum that we missed being in so very much! This week Kenzie and I will be helping out with the pre school in the slum, while the three other girls are in the clinic. The preschool is a different type of atmosphere since the little kids so badly want to sit on our laps and be swung around by us and stuff like we can do in the clinic, but at the pre school they need to be attentive to what they are learning.

A few things that I love about India:

The Chai Tea that seems to be everyyywhere 🙂

The rickshaws Sp? (last week we fit 5 in! I thought one of us was going to fall out.

The fact that it always feels like there are ants crawling on me, even right after I just shower)

We found a frog in our bathroom this morning. It was a cute frog.

The beautiful Sarees that the women wear (they are harder to wrap than they look, at the Muslim wedding we went to last week, three girls pulled me in a separate room to re-do my Saree, this happened a few different times.

The little kids here think we can hold 5 kids at a time (i guess they know better than we do since this has happened a lot)

Women and men are separated a lot. At church women are on one side and men on the other.

Little 4 year olds carry their baby sisters/brothers around on their hips, to things like church and the clinic and other places they go.

Little babies don’t wear diapers (Ro got peed on the other day)

They say “like that” after every sentence.

They bobble their head and smile when they know what your saying, and when they have no idea what your saying.

Much much more that I won’t list.

Much Love,

Linds
