A Battle Within

I want to serve the Lord With every fiber in my being Nothing wavering But my flesh screams out This week has been a battle A battle within myself A battle to represent The One True Light          Looking back on this week, it was a little bit of a battle.  A battle within myself.  A battle to represent the Light of Christ.  My selfish desires have tried to rise to the top.  Days of wanting to be alone and act as if I no longer was visible came upon me more than once.  Weariness was beginning to wrap itself around me.  Some...

Starbursts of Light

There seems to be an overall theme for this week.  The theme being Light versus dark!  I served at the flat with all the ladies who come in from the slums to sew, stitch, macramé, and learn skills to be able to provide for their family.  While being there this week, we were able paint the workshop, making it come alive with color and vibrancy.  The home for the ministry was transformed!  After the paint job was finished, the woman came into class glowing because of the change, splash of color and life.  The Lord used this to remind me of how we are that light...

Rejoice & Be Glad

Our first week of ministry has gone by!   It’s been nothing like I was expecting.  But then again….. I didn’t know what to expect exactly!  This week we were submerged into what will be our focus for the next three months; preventing children and woman from being trafficked.  It’s not been easy!  There are two different preschools Rahab’s Rope has partnered with to help improve the program and the schooling.  Then, there is a program Rahab’s Rope has started that they do every morning and afternoon for the young...

Peace and War

Wow, this first week has been amazing. When I was preparing for the trip I really expected to experience at least a little bit of a culture shock, but that has not been the case at all. In fact, as soon as I got off the plane in Goa and jumped into the cramped taxi that took us to our house, I knew I was right where I was supposed to be. I was instantly at peace and totally comfortable. That’s an amazing feeling, to know you are right where God wants you. It’s so different here in India than what I’m used to…the food, the smells, the...

Beautiful Contrast

Traveling has been quite the experience.   Our trek to Goa, India was excited!  After two overnight layovers with four different flights, we finally arrived at our destination.  It was a long and tiresome traveling trip of 64 hours!  But praise the Lord we are here safe and sound! As of late, I’ve been trying to recover from jet leg and get settled in at the guest house.  It’s definitely been a change from my all my comforts at home.    The room I share with two of my teammates is actually nicer than what I had expected.   We have...
