What brings us together

What brings us together as humans?

I know that in my home our family would gather around the
dinner table to share meals with one another, the food and fellowship as a
family brought us all together. It was always my favorite time of day to see
each member of my family, to hear them laugh, smile and share about how there
day was. Some days there were serious matters to discuss and other days we
could not stop laughing and joking, especially my father, brother and I. I feel
so much love and joy with my family.

The more I think about what brings us together, I think
about the beauty of being in fellowship with others. I think about being here
in India and sharing team time with each member of my family here. I think
about how I spend time with the children each day and how I have come to learn
who they are and what special traits they have and what their personalities
are,  I fall more in love with the people
I see them being and growing into. I love being able to be so comfortable around
the kids, I no longer have to hold back from hugging them and giving them
kisses, I can’t hold myself back now… I am thankful that things and objects
that were once so foreign to me have become so familiar.  This feeling of being in community and
fellowship with my team members, the children and where I live has allowed me
to really blossom and feel at peace and at home.

Then I stand back in amazement about the most beautiful
realization of all.  I have come all the
way from my home and I have traveled all the way to a foreign land filled with
millions of people to a small little home called Asha surrounded by the poor
and lost to be a part of a family here for one reason. This reason is not because
of the food, or because of the adventure of travel… The reason is God’s love,
and his great commission.

The reason I am here experiencing India is because God had a
plan and purpose that I bring the Gospel to his people.  God is what brings us together and makes us
family.

The love I feel for each team member I am with and for each
person that we have been in fellowship with here in India is sometimes
indescribable. I cannot even imagine the fellowship and family that is awaiting
us all in heaven when that day comes, that we will gather for the same reason
to serve the Lord.  The same joy that I
have when I am looking around my dinner table at my beautiful family and being
so happy to see them,  this is the same
feeling I will have when I see in heaven my brothers and sisters in the Lord..

I have so much to say about what great and amazing things
God is doing in my life, and how I feel transformed by his love and goodness,
my mind is in constant pondering of how great our God is.

I have been feeling especially on my hear t the importance
of what a valuable family is, and that is only with God.

I am so thankful to be living here in India. Everything has
been sp humbling and eye opening.  I feel
blessed to say the least.
