A Country Full of Contrasts

These past two weeks have been incredible. There is so much
of this place that makes me happy. There are signs on buildings or walls that
are spelled wrong (Well Come, instead of Welcome) that make me chuckle to
myself. Showering is definitely not a daily thing on my list of things to do. The
other day, I noticed I had a farmer’s tan..from dirt. Dodging buses, and as a
result, dodging motorcycles. Bus rides with six people hanging out of the door,
as I stand on my tiptoes, leaning over a small child who is seated on his
mother’s lap, with four people who fullylean on my back when the bus stops.

Amongst the things that make me smile, there are many things
that bring me to tears. Hearing stories daily of women who are beaten by their
husbands. Seeing men who are forced to live against a building on the street,
whose toes are decayed from disease. Watching a little girl cross a stream in
her slum with shoes too small and arms that are covered in scars from burns.

India is a country full of contrasts. Wealth and poverty stand
side by side in a way that would never survive in the States. Even though this
place is covered in beauty, there is so much pain and unknown desperation for
hope, for a Savior to redeem.

Our time so far has been so precious. We have spent much
time praying over people because they long for something more, something that
fulfills and satisfies. It is amazing to realize that we hold power that can
burst forth from us at any moment. It is through that power that we can bring
hope and light to this place.

Please join us in praying for this country and these people.
Pray that our team will never forget the power that is within us and that the
Lord will break chains to free the captives and bring beauty from ashes. May
the Lord reign in India, now and forevermore.
