Though every day is a little different, we wanted to share with you what a “typical” day in the life is like for us here in Kolkata, India.
Enjoy!
8am: Wake up. Pray, read bible, journal, drink a pack of room temperature Starbucks VIA (okay, that last part is just me).
10am: Breakfast at the children’s home.
11-1pm: “ATL (Ask the Lord). Some days we prayer walk the neighborhood and meet our neighbors, other days we fellowship and worship with one another, sometimes we take quiet times with God or scurry over to the internet cafe to connect with friends and family back home.
1pm: Lunch
2pm-4pm: Study with the children. They take their exams this week, so keep these precious little ones in your prayers. Many of them come from villages that speak different languages than what they speak here (Bengali). And all of their books are in ENGLISH and their classes are taught in ENGLISH, so catching up is a big challenge.
4pm-5:45pm: FUN TIME!! Games of cricket and throw throw fill our afternoons (throw throw is a game that’s a little bit like dodgeball/ Two people are “it” and if you get hit with the ball you are also “it.” If you’re one of the last two to get hit you win and are “it” for the next game. Tons of fun!).
5:45pm: TEA TIME! A time we look forward to each day. Coffee or tea and cookies!
6pm: Bath time for the boys.
7pm: Worship and devotionals led by one of us each night with the boys.
8:15pm: Dinner
8:45pm: Say good night to the boys.
9:00pm: Head home and have team time (feedback from the day, prayer for one another, sharing testimonies, worshipping together, and laughing together).
10:30-11:30: Shower rotation!
11:30: BEDTIME! Goodnight 🙂
