A Broken Arm

God has been teaching me so much from my time here, not only about relying on Him alone, but also about how weak we are without Him, and also about the mysterious ways in which He works. I have been amazed by Indian hospitality. When we do house visits in the afternoons, it astounds me when the people we are visiting, who having nothing at all, go out of their way to make us chai or give us crackers to eat. They give us the only food they have sometimes and it has been very hard to witness that, but also very convicting. It has opened up my eyes to the way I...

God is revealing strength!

Ministry has been really good but recently I have been feeling tied down by feelings of exhaustion and being really tired. Our days are always packed. We are constantly doing something but I don’t want that to effect the way I serve. Working at the preschool has been a huge challenge for me because the kids don’t like to listen. Plus, they have SO MUCH energy that I am burned out within the first hour. Through my time here, God has been showing me a lot about strength. I have been very eager to ask the Lord for strength to interact with the children at preschool and in...

They are Precious in His Sight

I did not anticipate working with children again this summer. Not in the setting that I am, anyways.Last summer I spent a whole lot of time trying to get children to do things that they didn’t want to do. This summer feels similar, but more difficult, as most of them don’t speak English.I work in a preschool every morning, and it is hard work. I don’t recommend trying to teach boring things to two and three year olds. Ever. Everything needs to be exciting and entertaining, or they decide to entertain themselves, and then you’ve lost all control. It takes a lot of...

Always!

God  is good, ALWAYS! This is something that I have had to remind myself while here in India.  I have seen things that I never thought I would see. I have listened to life stories that I never would have imagined.  Amongst all of the hustle and bustle of life in India there is and will always be hope, even if it is just a glimpse of it.  In a good season or in a bad season in one’s life One thing remains constant and that is God’s love. Please continue to pray for the women and children’s hearts that my team and I...

Unwanted.

A few days ago my team and I were doing some house visits. These are always a huge blessing. Seriously I have never experienced hospitality like that of the slums in India. They will give and give even if it means sacrificing their dinner. Usually we all cram into a tiny room, the size of most Americans bathrooms or walk-in closets, and sit on the floor. On this visit there was about 8-10 of us crammed in an even smaller room.   As we sat there sipping our warm chai, I noticed too eyes sheepishly staring back into mine from behind a curtain in a back room. Later, it was explained to...
