Hey… You can walk

There’s a little girl here (for her sake lets call her J), and she can walk. And while that might not seem like a huge thing, it is undoubtedly one of the most amazing things I have seen in my lifetime. Because for one so small and with a disability like hers, it is an amazing feet to accomplish, especially here in India. And since coming to India a little over a month ago I have watched J firsthand flourish into a spitfire little girl who will trample you if you don’t get out of her way fast enough. A little girl who giggles lots and asks for hugs boldly, who loves with a...

Indian Hindus vs American Christians

One of the most drastic differences between India and America is the way that religion is a defining characteristic of Indian culture. Honestly, I didn't know much about Hinduism before being in India. This summer, I've absorbed so much knowledge about this religion. India was founded on religion, and their lives and culture revolve around it.  In America, the separation of church and state is very strictly enforced. Not too much legal action is enforced in India, especially not separating church and state. Hindus have many gods and idols that they worship – many of...

So far!

We are now on month two here in India, which feels strange to think about. It feels like such a greater length of time than that, and at the same time doesn't feel at all long enough for this season to be over halfway through. While my body has not been satisfied and my mind has been confused, my spirit is at total peace and love. Being over halfway through this summer of India, I've been thinking about some of the memories and times which have remained vivid in my mind. Knowing that God wrote them all for me, I would love to share them with you all. These are memories God crafted...

Here and There and Everywhere

I haven't checked in with everyone in a while so I wanted to give you a quick update on how life's going in India.   We sweat…A lot.   There's nothing like that natural shimmer on your skin at nearly all times of the day.   I'm getting to see the women on my team step more and more into leadership and use the gifts that the Lord's given them.   We're taking turns facilitating feedback and leading team time, and it's just been so great to see how each individual leads.   We've had cards and cookies, art and prayer, games...

God’s Beauty in Simplicity

God’s presence is here in India and He is moving in some mighty ways! What makes that even better is that He wants us to be a part of it. How cool is that?!  The creator of the universe wants to use you and me to bring His love to this place.  He could use anyone and anything, but He chose to use us – I cannot think of a better or more beautiful gift! As you have probably read by now, my team spent our Saturday night in one of the nearby villages sharing the Gospel. We weren’t quite sure what to expect, so we put together a list of songs that we all knew the...

A Typical Day in the Life of… Us!

This post is for all of you that are curious what a day usually looks like for us here in India.  For those of you that aren’t curious, this isn’t for you – just move on… 😉 We begin every morning as a team and have some time with the Lord and each other.  We take turns leading that time which makes every morning a little different and unique which I love! If you are good like some of the girls on my team, you get up early and have personal devotion time and breakfast before team devotions.  If you are like me on most mornings, your teammates come...
