Can these weeks fly by any faster?… This week has been
such an encouragement as we’ve seen prayer after prayer being answered. When
God calls us to something – a project, a task, a ministry, a job – He’ll never
leave us hanging. That wouldn’t make any sense, would it?
Earlier this week the ministry here had to move out of our
building due to some conflicts. So we started praying. In the mean time we got
a glimpse of just how much of an impact we’re making here. The women that we
help everyday were so worried that it meant that they wouldn’t be able to come
anymore. We reassured them that the ministry would still go on, and asked them
to join us in praying for a new building. In a matter of three or four days God
provided a beautiful new flat that we will be moving into on Monday! God doesn’t leave us hanging.
One of the shop owners on the beach is a new believer and
accepted Christ only three or four months ago. Her faith in God in the midst of
her abusive circumstances touches the core of my being as we sit and talk with
her every chance we get. Her shop on the beach has needed repair for several
months now but the owner she rents it from hadn’t gotten back to her. Her shop
is the only source of income for her family as her husband doesn’t work. She’s
been trying to sell stuff out of her house but some days she has no business at
all. Every time we talked to her she asked us, “Please pray for my shop.” So we
prayed. We’ve been praying ever since we got here and Wednesday the owner
finally called her and she’s been repairing all this week! Tomorrow we get to
help paint and add the finishing touches so that she can get her business up
and running just in time for tourist season. God won’t leave her hanging.
One of our good friends that comes to the ministry is in the
midst of complicated and abusive circumstances. Last weekend she tried to
commit suicide for the second time by drowning herself in the ocean. My heart
broke at this news but because of the circumstances all we could do for the
time being was pray. So we did. This week she was able to have a job interview
with one of our pastor friends and she has a new job, away from her family and
the abuse! God didn’t leave her hanging.
He won’t leave us hanging when we cry out to Him!
