The children of the orphanage all come from histories that have been challenging, abusive or unstable. In most cases they have been through unimaginable circumstances that a child should never experience. They have been brought away from these tragedies to live in a home called the “Asha Mission home
Asha, meaning hope.
This word is beautifully meaningful for each child’s individual life, they live in hope of what the bright future holds, leaving what has happened to them in the past and moving forward.
They have been brought to this place for a reason; it is apart of Gods divine plan. In this transition they will experience struggle, questions, angers and feelings of abandonment, but in these things they will learn to rely on God and his word and be forever in his joy and continue to persevere.
Pastor Sam and his beautiful family have been called to minister here in Calcutta running this orphanage knowing fully well that this place is known as Satan’s throne, the untouchable place of Gods hand. They are warrior’s here, growing strong for Jesus and serving him even with everything going against them. There faith is admirable and when I thought about there faith it brought me to this verse.
“From the depths of despair, O lord, I call for your help. Iam counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him, I have put my hope in his word. psalm 130:1-5.
The children are being raised in a home proclaiming Gods hope and powerful word.
Knowing this I see this place becoming Gods throne, a place being filled with many Christians and people whos faith is filled with a promise of eternal life.
I consider being here a blessing, a challenge and a calling to be Gods servant. A time to invest Gods love into each child and see them smile and laugh with joy as a result. There is no place I would rather be. Praise to him in all his work to be done here.
