Kinda Like A Hippie

“I was there when He set the heavens in place,

When He marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,

When He established the clouds above

And fixed securely the foundations of the deep,

When He gave the sea its boundary

So the waters would not overstep his command,

And when He marked out the foundations of the earth.”  Proverbs 8:27-29

This is one of my favorite portions of scripture. It’s such
a beautiful reminder of what creation represents: the INSPIRATION of God. Standing
at the edge of the Arabian Sea with warm waves lapping around my feet and a
cool breeze blowing on my face, I was feeling a little inspired… I won’t even
attempt to describe the “God moment” I was having. All I can say is that it was
just me and Him on the beach those few moments, I’m sure of it! I’m such a
lover of His presence 🙂 (Although, it took me a little while to get over the
crowd of Indian guys that seems to congregate around us EVERYWHERE we go. All I
wanted was 50 yards of space to myself – was that too much to ask?! Oh well, I
feel like maybe God was laughing at my annoyance for a little bit…) But I was
overcome by awe and all of that faded away as I took my Savior’s hand and
chilled on the beach – just me and Him!

I’ve really been captivated by the beauty of nature this week.
I feel really hippie saying that, haha, but it’s true! I’ve always loved God’s
creation. Those who know me well understand my love for staring at the stars or
breathing in the scent of junipers after a good thunder storm back home. The
jungles filled with palm trees and the sunsets over the ocean here in India
give me that same high. If God poured THAT MUCH creativity and divine
inspiration into the canvas of the sky, the fragrance of the flowers, and the refreshment
of a rain storm, then how much more beauty has he filled OUR lives with? How
much more inspiration has He given US to pour into the world? If He uses the
rocks, the water, and the trees to bring recognition to Himself, how exciting
to think about the ways He will use us as vessels of the Holy Spirit to point
to the One and Only God!!

I feel like I write my blogs more on my personal revelations
than on specific things that happened this week – sorry about that 🙂 But it’s
these things that God speaks to my heart and these truths that He’s engraving
in my soul that allows me to teach these children, talk with these women, and
love these people in a way that will truly make a difference in their lives.
These are the things that are driving me to be used by God – here in the slums
of India and for the rest of my life!
