Look at our lives…

By the looks of my title, you may think this is a serious, insightful blog. Although I do encourage you to take a step back and take a look at your life, this blog is not serious. I realized I haven’t shared much about what life is like here in India. We love India, but amidst the circumstances in which we live, my team and I often
find ourselves doing things that we wouldn’t normally, followed by the statement
Look at our lives… such instances
include but are not limited to:

 accidentally putting
what you thought was baby powder down your clothing, only to realize… it was
powdered coffee creamer.

Our India perfume: a combination of tea tree oil (lice
repellent), baby powder, and bug spray.

Bringing a headlamp with you into the bathroom because the
power could very likely turn off. — then being startled by a lizard.

Dunking especially spicy food in ketchup. A lot of ketchup.

Not being sure if a certain team member has rice or lice in
her hair??

Eating my body weight in rice.

Trying to explain to a 10 year old boy why blue, purple,
orange, etc. end in the letter e! (this
is unexplainable in case you were wondering)

Almost being brought to tears at an unexpected air
conditioning or cold beverage or little monsoon (which cools the temperature
down by at least 10 degrees)

Dropping whatever you’re doing and running towards the sight
of tea and “biscuits

Living in a graveyard- I mean apartment of squashed ants,
mosquitoes, giant flying cockroaches, and other bugs whose names are unknown to
us.

Daily hypotheticals (Would
you rather…)
most of which are too gross to mention, but I will say many
involve the river of sewage on the side of the road… and daily discussions of bodily
functions (for health’s sake of course!)

Look at our lives… we
love this life.
