Over these past two weeks, there have been a lot of times I’ve found myself asking, “SERIOUSLY, God?”
To be completely honest, things have just seemed too good to be true.
I sit with my team of women in the sweltering heat, the smell of sour baby milk permeating the room (because at this point, that’s what most of us smell like 24-7), our bellies full of meals of fried dough, white rice and potatoes, drinking warm water, heat rash and mosquito bites covering our bodies, and I see them all continuing to PRAISE GOD.
Despite the heat and the lack of comfort, the women of God I am honored to share this journey with continue to have attitudes of joy and thanks. They continue to encourage one another. They continue to pour out love to the boys, to our ministry contacts, and to one another.
And I have to ask, “Seriously, God? Why would you bless ME with such an awesome team?”
As we’re at ministry with boys who have experienced so much hurt and rejection–boys younger than 10 who have used alcohol and drugs consistently and in excess– bubbling over with JOY, accepting love from and giving love to this group of 7 American women who arrived just a few days ago. Boys who are surrounded by the Hindu religion praising Jesus each and every night with sincerity and conviction.
And again, I have to ask, “Seriously, God?”
I am overwhelmed at His love, at His goodness, at the gifts He has bestowed upon His children. I am overwhelmed at how much He has blessed us already in these first two weeks together.
And as day-by-day, moment-to-moment I ask him, “Seriously, God?” I hear Him loving reply, “Yes my daughter, and there is so much more in store.”
