SO THIS IS GOODBYE

December 1st was our last day of ministry in the slum that I worked in primarily. As we got on our bus that morning, I just started praying that the Lord would make the day an adventure and that it would be a day I would always remember. Well, he answered quickly. As we got on our second bus, our group was split up, my fried rice was knocked out of my hand onto the bus floor (along with my iPod and camera…) and it was a really rough bus ride. Ha, got it God. I want adventure, you gave it to me. In preschool circle time, our contact had all of the kids put their hands on one of our...

Coffee And Pizza Make A Great Breakfast

I think my blog title is probably as random as my week!   So travels went good, it was great to be able to see more parts of India AND the Rahab’s Rope house in Bangalore AND of course the TAJ MAHAL!! We also got to tour the Mysore palace and that was so much fun; we started a dance party, chased down elephants, rode the elephants, took tons of photos, then at the Gardens at night with fountains lit up we took a boat ride, we ate great street food, and sang Disney songs. Great day. And then going to Delhi and Agra was AMAZING! I love Agra, we got to go the the Fort, the Taj...

THANKFUL

This year marked my first thanksgiving away from home. And pretty far away from home at that. It was a much different thanksgiving. Instead of all seven members of my family being spread out in our spacious kitchen cooking so many different thanksgiving favorites there was a closet sized kitchen and all 11 of us attempting to cook modified thanksgiving favorites. We used the ingredients that we could find and substituted LOTS of ingredients, all of us hoping that whatever dish we were making would turn out okay. We ended up having to create a bit of a schedule so that everyone could make...

A Prayer

This week has been full of thanksgiving and prayer!  We went on a prayer walk Monday to nearby town where the Red Light District is and spent the afternoon praying for the city.  It was neat as we hiked to the top of a steep hill overlooking the whole city.   As we did, we were able to pray boldly for the nation of India.  For the women.  For the children. For the men.   For this generation and the next.   I firmly believe that revival is now! My prayer is that the men of India would rise up and be mighty men of valor.  Men after...

I Really Love People Watching From My Balcony In India

Sitting on the balcony watching the beautiful pink and purple evening’s sky fade to black, hearing the nearby sea’s waves coming and going, seeing the jungle grow dark with the yellow light’s lamp post coming on, and hearing the hustle and bustle of the town: people talking, car and bus horns, some random drums being played somewhere, the clinging of metal pots as people wash their dishes, hearing them chat within their homes, somewhere there’s a baby crying.  Watching from above people moving in the quiet paths of the evening, coming in and out of their houses, children...

Sized Up To My Suitcase

Only 1 weeks of ministry left. Not really sure how I’m feeling about that… Mainly because joy from reflecting on my time here plus sorrow about leaving plus anxiety and excitement about going home equals a whole lot of emotion that I don’t really have time to deal with right now! Not when I have so much more of India to enjoy in so little time! Earlier this week while I was chatting with God about this very subject, He brought me to Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. A time for everything. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. While here I’ve...
