Footsteps
The spark was lit when the immature 11 year old when on her
first missions trip to Serbia. She thought it was going to be full of fun and
games. Not quite. But the spark grew as she traveled to Nigeria twice, then to
France, then to Nigeria again, then India for the first time and the next year
India AGAIN!
People have asked me how I got my passion for missions, why I
have a passion for missions, why India, and how did India come to mind. This
blog is to answer some of those questions.
‘How did I get a passion for missions.’ My testimony has a lot
to do with this. I’m adopted. I come from a background of having almost nothing
and being rejected. I came to realize my story is a gift and not a curse around
the age of 15 when God showed me how I could use my story to minister to other
orphans. I started realizing God could actually USE my story to bless others!
How cool is that?! When I went on my missions trip to Nigeria for the first
time and ministered to them I realized I could connect with them differently
then the other people on my team. That triggered the missions.
‘Why have a passion for missions’ Question for you: WHY NOT?! In
the Bible are we not ALL called to missions? Maybe in different ways but we
can’t escape the fact that we are called. And if I am going to have a passion
for something, why not missions? (Though, (side note) I do have a passion for
motorcycles and the color Lime Green. My team mates will confirm that for you.)
‘Why India?’ India is one of the country’s with the most
orphans. And one thing I really wanted was to go to a place where I wouldn’t
stand out so people wouldn’t be nervous around me. I love the people. Sure my
first experience here wasn’t the best but these two months have taught me so
much and I still feel called to work here in some way.
‘How did India come about?’ Well, I can’t really say something
amazing happened like, “I saw myself amongst Indian children in a dream,” or “I
clearly heard his voice saying, “I want you here.” It wasn’t that kinda thing.
I just started getting India on my mind a lot. And I realized I really wanted
to go there on a missions trip. So, I talked to my dad about it. I was
expecting a, “Well, let’s think and pray about this.” No, it was “Sure. Go
ahead and sign up.” And I was thinking, “Wait, shouldn’t we think about this a
little bit? Maybe pray on it some more?” Turns out God had already gotten His
message across. ‘Hannah, I want you here.’ Okay.
People, I want to leave a legacy for these boys. I want to leave
footprints that remain here forever for them to follow. Footprints that lead
straight to Jesus. Footprints that won’t fade…ever. I want these boys to look
at me and know, ‘Here is someone I can follow, because she is following Jesus
and that is the way I should be going.” I encourage you, look around you.
People are watching you. What kind of footprints are you leaving? Can they be
followed? And if so…where are they going? Leave Unfading Footprints.
Until the Whole World Hears,
Hannah
