A Team to Count On

So last week was pretty awful.. to say the least. Now looking back and talking about it is quite funny, but a few days ago I would have thought differently. Our team was hit with one of the worst stomach bugs I've ever seen. Not to be over dramatic in any way, this literally was just one of the worst sicknesses I've ever been apart of.

So. Thursday rolls by and suddenly one by one people were beginning to get sick. It wasn't too bad at first, you know, the usual stomach thing. Not something anyone would want, but still nothing too awful.

Then things began to change.

I woke up in the middle of the night feeling completely awful, running to the bathroom to find one of my teammates having curled up on the dirty bathroom floor sleeping there for the past couple of hours, to sick to move. The more time went on the worse it became. I eventually got to the point in which I couldn't even sit up. I came out of the bathroom, collapsing to the ground by a teammates bed.  I was dying of thirst, but couldn't keep anything down. It was hot and I had absolutely no strength. I couldn't fight it on my own anymore, I was officially unable to take care of myself.

This is where my team came in.
Instantly, they saw my need. At this point it was about 4 AM, a time in which everyone should be sleeping but instead they gave up their rest and came to my aid. I was comforted, prayed over, given many cold  wet cloths to put on my forehead. I received back rubs and had my hair played with. When they weren't actually with me I was still checked on.  Everything possible for them to do for me was done. They had even monitored my water intake to make sure I didn't drink it all (to prevent from getting sick again) but still made sure I was getting enough. They gave up their iPods and computers and other such things. This might not seem all that important to have, but when your hot and sick and laying in bed for hours..turning into days- iPods, computers, movies and games become pretty wonderful.

They truly showed me what it meant to be the hands of Jesus. I have never been in more need then I was at that moment and without hesitation they came to me. They showed me what it meant to be selfless, putting aside the possibility of getting sick themselves and helping me instead. They gave up their sleep, belongings, and time to help out someone they met a month ago.

I couldn't be more thankful to be apart of this team and to have been placed among such awesome and loving disciples.  I have seen more into what it really means to be a body of Christ this past week through all of these wonderful girls. This team is full of so many people that I know I'll always be able to count on.

Thanks Jesus.
