A Quick Post for Wendy

I have to take a few moments to share my meeting with Wendy.  My team (Team 2) has been assigned a project to literally clothe the orphans.  We are going through all of the SCH locations and making sure every child has clothes that fit and are labeled as theirs.  This is something that needs to be done badly, but they do not have the man power to do it on their own – which is where we come in! 🙂 Yesterday we went to the first home – the largest – and started sizing each child.  There was also a ton of time to hang out with the kids and give them the...

Sorrow to Joy

I never get headaches. But as I came upon the last bit of our 12-hour stay in the Atlanta airport before our first flight to Dubai, I started getting one. I began being plagued with thoughts of all the material comforts I would be missing as I spend two months in India. This being my fourth time in India, I knew that those thoughts were so not like me. I love India. Material comforts are generally the least of my concerns when I’m here. I was under major spiritual attack. Satan was killing my joy. I prayed against it and had others pray against it as well. As I was on our second...

We’re Here!

After many, many hours in the Atlanta and Dubai airport and then an 8 hr bus ride from Hyderabad, we finally made it to the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh! The Lord’s favor was definitely on the 19 of us women traveling. Travel was long, but it went so smoothly. God has just been blowing us away with His favor and provision. The house that we are staying in is super legit. It has running water, several beds and even air conditioning in some of the rooms! After expecting to tent for a while this is quite the upgrade. We start our first day of ministry tomorrow. The girls are...

I’m Falling in Love…

Something has happened over the past few days at Passport Training Camp. My heart has been captured in way that I don’t ever think it has been before. I’ve absolutely fallen in love with the girls on my team. The Lord is showing me bits of what He’s doing inside of them, and it’s touching my heart in the most tender way. I’ve seen change happen in them already. The way that they love and support each other after only a few days of knowing one another blows me away. Their soft hearts and teachable spirits spur me on to have a purer faith. They’re in...

My prayer in the harvest

These past four months have been such a journey.  If you had explained to me back in January the fullness of what I was getting myself into by coming to India and leading a team, I’m not sure I would have loved the sound of it at first.  These months have been absolutely incredible, absolutely taxing, absolutely difficult and fulfilling and painful and wonderful all alike.  But looking back now, I don’t think there are many things that I love more than the sound of that. For four months straight, I’m not sure if I stopped sweating for an hour straight because of the...

The very nature of a Servant

This week has been the week of lasts. With only a few days left here in India, we have been making lists and mapping out our time to make the most of every day. It has been so on our hearts what it is we want to leave behind here – what we want the kids to learn and take away from us, even after we go. Last night during evening prayer, we decided to have a foot-washing with everyone at the Asha House.  Kristen talked about the life of Christ, and how He came to serve us, and the way that He humbled Himself to serve the disciples in His life and ministry.  Afterwards, we...
