Thank You Jesus!

Thank You Jesus   ‘Dear God, I am thankful for: My dog, this food, my mom, my dad, and some of my siblings.’ That last one was supposed to be funny, anyway. Typical prayer right? Now, what if you woke up the next morning and that was all you had? The same meal, your dog, your mom, dad and that sibling you liked. You would probably start thanking God a little more right? Living in India has shown me how I fail to be thankful for the things God has given me. I take things for granted SO easily. It is so readily available and I feel like, “Hey, I need such and such I can just run...

Love Until It Hurts

Getting to know all of these boys has been quite rewarding. We have all been blessed to make several connections this past month.Thinking about home the other day i thought to myself, man im going to miss these boys. I will miss their night devotions and prayer, their childlike faith, their smiles, their silly games like throw-throw and stack-stack. I will miss tutoring them in school and teaching them English. Most of all I will miss loving them.             Gupta is...

Meet the Team

As we reach the halfway point of the trip, it seems appropriate to introduce you to the team. Hopefully putting some names to faces will help all you friends and family when we come home and share stories about one another! Enjoy!  Meet Olivia Olivia is a little fireball of spunk, laughter, and joy. She’s one of those women whose laughter is contagious and can get a whole room laughing.  Olivia has a true Mother’s heart for the boys, always checking to see how they are feeling, tending to scrapes or little injuries, and caring for them as the sweet children...

Growing Pains

July? Already? I have definitely been in the missions time warp where some days feel long but the time is flying by! Over the past month I have grown to love the crazy quirks of India that make it so different from home! Sitting on the floor, eating with my hands, and the rickshaws all feel very normal now! My tolerance for spicy food has even increased exponentially! (Although I would pay an exorbitant amount of rupees for a burger right now…)  Over the past few weeks my relationships with the boys have blossomed. One of my favorite parts of the day is welcoming the boys home...

Halfway Highlights :)

As I post this we are in our midpoint debrief, meaning that our time here is about halfway done. CRAZY! Since that is the case, I thought I’d highlight some notable parts of the trip so far 🙂     –  Relationships with the boys. Hearing their stories, comforting them when they miss their parents, don’t do well on a test, or are picked on.   –  Seeing the Mother Teresa house. Reading about her life and loving everything she said. She is one of the coolest spiritual role models.   –  Eating with our hands. It’s the norm here 🙂...

Best Day of My Life!

Is this blog about the “best day of my life”? Hm, not really. Honestly, I couldn’t really think of a catchy title so I figured that would draw in a few readers.             In all seriousness though, what constitutes as a good day? Marriage? Babies? I have experienced neither, so I can’t really say. But, today God has got me thinking about what things in life make us happy. Why do we get excited and look forward to certain things? Where does our security lie and what is the root of our happiness? Is it even...
