Best Day of My Life!

Is this blog about the “best day of my life”? Hm, not really. Honestly, I couldn’t really think of a catchy title so I figured that would draw in a few readers.             In all seriousness though, what constitutes as a good day? Marriage? Babies? I have experienced neither, so I can’t really say. But, today God has got me thinking about what things in life make us happy. Why do we get excited and look forward to certain things? Where does our security lie and what is the root of our happiness? Is it even...

Obeying in Love

Recently, God has been helping me to understand something new about His love. A challenge placed in front of me has been obedience. Obedience to God’s word in the Bible. Also, as I’ve been learning to tune into what God is saying to me personally better than ever before on this trip, I’ve been challenged in that to obey what He tells me to do. Sometimes it is easy, but sometimes it is not. Sometimes what He tells me to do makes me uncomfortable or is the more challenging option. But I am seeing how even these things that He calls me to, that in the moment seem purposeless or not worth...

A Day in the Life

Though every day is a little different, we wanted to share with you what a “typical” day in the life is like for us here in Kolkata, India. Enjoy! 8am: Wake up. We are at a critical stage in out lives where seeking the will of the Father is essential. He has such great plans for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11) He wants nothing more than...

Waking Up

If you have never been immersed in a culture where you are in the religious minority, ideally a significant minority, I would challenge you to do so. I can only compare being surrounded by Hindu worship, festivals, idols, temples, etc. to Dorothy being dropped in Oz. My first few days I had to remind myself I was not dreaming. Now that I have woken up, I have found that the spiritual warfare is starkly different than what I am accustomed to. The more I learn of Hinduism the more I wonder how these beautiful, hospitable people could have strayed so far from God. How could they be so...

Clean Grass

My Day: 8am – wake up, spend time with my man Jesus 9:50 – walk to the boys home 10:00 – breakfast free time 12:30 – lunch 1:30 – boys arrive home from school After greeting them at the door with smiles, hugs, and tickles they eat lunch and then it’s time to study. Tutoring is actually the biggest portion of our ministry. Many of our boys are behind in class. They are being asked to know and understand English phrases when they can barely read and don’t understand that letters make certain sounds. They have exams next week. After tutoring we play out on the...
