Maximum Blessings

Looking back on the last few days I feel that the Lord decided to bless me beyond anything I could have imagined. I keep envisioning God talking it over with Jesus as they planned out this time, smiling with excitement as they were getting ready to give me this gift.  It says in James “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” I have received from the Father of lights a gift specifically and masterfully wrapped.  My team and I had a chance to visit the girls home which just opened up (this home is through ASHA...

The God of Gifts

A couple of weeks ago the entire team was sick with some sort of viral bacteria thing. It was pretty serious and a few of us had to go to the hospital. I never have seen anyone so sick before and when I got it, I was very fearful.  I was in the worst pain I have ever been in. I was laying on my bed holding my knees, crying out to the Lord. I cried myself to sleep and the Lord came to me in a dream.  He was standing in front of my bed looking at me with such compassion. He was looking at me contemplating what to do to help me. Then He bent down a little bit and moved His fist...

This is my God. Who is yours?

My God is not made from wood, painted various colors, and shaped by humans. My God made the wood, created the colors, and formed the hands of man. (Genesis 1-2; Psalm 96:5-6)   My God is not restricted by race, geography, or gender. My God sees all people as equal, in spite of who or where they are. (Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11)   My God is not locked behind bars, only accessible on certain days. My God is freedom, forever accessible and approachable. (Hebrews 4:16; 10:22)   My God doesn’t demand worship out of ritualistic acts and static motions. My God longs for worship...

I’ve been running around blind

It’s in their smiles and in their laughs. It’s when they look to you after every moment. Something funny happens; they take a glance. Something goes wrong; they hunt for your answer. It is all in that look. I’m responsible, responsible for their response, responsible for their confirmation, happiness, encouragement. I know that look. I used to give it. Any happiness I had would sink to shame if he disapproved or soar exponentially if he found joy in it too. I was so concerned about what he thought and if I was good enough. He had an authority over me which dictated my...

Dining with a King

“There is more for you, my child.” I can’t tell you how many times I have heard this phrase within the last two months. Even before training camp, God was continually saying this and has spent time confirming this for me. There is something that I haven’t received or experienced yet, something new and fresh. I was so excited; who wouldn’t be to go deeper into God’s heart? Bring it on! But it has looked a whole lot different than I expected it to. Once we got to India, I was so ready to start figuring out whatever “more” means. Instead of moving forward,...

Stepping Out of the Boat

It was a Friday a couple of weeks ago now, that God put a story on my heart that I have known since I was a little girl: Peter walking on the water. I was preparing the devotional for our nightly prayer/worship meetings when God put this passage on my heart and began to weave it deep into my soul. Little did I realize that the devotional I prepared was more for me than anyone else in the room. The story goes something like this: (Matthew 14: 22-33) Peter and several disciples were out on a boat one night when a storm began. Earlier in the day, Jesus had left them to spend time with God, so...
