Many are the Plans of Man (or Woman)

Many are the plans in the mind of the man but it is the purpose of the Lord that will Stand.  Proverbs 19:21 Lacking any huge revelations from the Lord, and having been in Kolkata for a while now I feel like it’s appropriate to share where I’m at with the Lord and some of what’s happening with me. I’ve found myself needing to rest in this proverb and the truth that it tells. See, I’ve loved my time here in India. I have been accepting each day here as a gift. I’ve been able to see new things, meet new people, and have learned much from the Lord. I...

Extinguished… Reignited

So, I was just about finished writing this blog. It was about how “not much may have happened this past week, but I am SO looking forward to what God has planned next week!” As I was wrapping up that pile of churchy cheese, God put a story into my head. It was when Jesus saw the fig tree from afar and it looked ripe and fruitful, yet upon closer inspection it had NO fruit. Jesus then CURSED the fig tree, condemning it to bear fruit no more! I remember when I first read that story and thought to myself: “Man, Jesus really wanted some fruit.” But, as with everything...

Watch Me Move the Mountains

Last week I got the awesome opportunity to go and spend a few days at a remote country-like area outside of the city. We took a flat, a bus and some trains to get there and after a long and fun-filled day we arrived.  There is absolutely nothing like seeing miles and miles of rice farms, lined with straw huts, palm trees, naked babies and smiling brown faces. We unpacked, put up our mosquito nets and ventured out around our area. Some kids invited us to their house for some tea and we noticed the many, many idols and realized their hold is a lot stronger here than where we live. You...

A Biblical Time Machine

It blows my mind how we are approaching the mid-point in our trip, but when I look at what God has done for the people here, my team, and me it makes me realize how much has gone down. My life before this trip is pretty spiritually stale. My most spiritual moments were me sticking my hands up in the air during worship. When I compare that to where I am now, I am in a completely different mindset. God has showered His grace and love on me and showed me wisdom beyond my wildest dreams. I still have a long ways to go (don’t we all?) but it feels so amazing to be syncing up with my...

Paving the Way for THE WAY!

What a week! We were informed on Monday that the team was going to a prayer meeting to a village that doesn’t know the gospel. A pastor has been recently planted there, who is a local Bengali. Our team prayed and asked God who to go, who to stay and seven out of ten of us hopped in the van with Pastor Sam and Pabithro. After forty minutes and thirty kilometers away we arrived. Village life in India is far different than what I’m used to. The houses were made out of smoothed mud and bamboo surrounded by miles and miles of rice farms. I’m getting used to never really knowing what’s...
