SO THIS IS GOODBYE

December 1st was our last day of ministry in the slum that I worked in primarily. As we got on our bus that morning, I just started praying that the Lord would make the day an adventure and that it would be a day I would always remember. Well, he answered quickly. As we got on our second bus, our group was split up, my fried rice was knocked out of my hand onto the bus floor (along with my iPod and camera…) and it was a really rough bus ride. Ha, got it God. I want adventure, you gave it to me. In preschool circle time, our contact had all of the kids put their hands on one of our...

In the Right Place

This past week we did a prayer walk in the biggest city in Goa, Margoa. One of our ministry partners is trying to start a ministry there working in the red light district, so we came to cover the area in prayer. We first went to a slum on the outskirts of the city and walked through to pray for the tuition kids in the area and for that ministry in particular. After that we headed into the center of the city. Margoa is very crowded and very busy. We weaved in and out of cars and buses and people and motorcycles and finally made it to this wall with a gate. We really had no idea...

A Fun Post to Share With You All

So I have been waiting all weekend to premier this gem to our supporters and family! This is a music video some of us on the team filmed last weekend and we premiered fully completed on Thanksgiving! It’s called “The Kreeper” and stars myself and Brittney as two characters called Kreepi Kahn and Krazi Kapoor. This is just the first of the music videos we were planning on doing to, of course, Bollywood music!  Just so people understand the background of the story, “The Kreeper” is about a creepy man who finds Bollywood  heroine Krazi Kapoor very...

THANKFUL

This year marked my first thanksgiving away from home. And pretty far away from home at that. It was a much different thanksgiving. Instead of all seven members of my family being spread out in our spacious kitchen cooking so many different thanksgiving favorites there was a closet sized kitchen and all 11 of us attempting to cook modified thanksgiving favorites. We used the ingredients that we could find and substituted LOTS of ingredients, all of us hoping that whatever dish we were making would turn out okay. We ended up having to create a bit of a schedule so that everyone could make...

I Really Love People Watching From My Balcony In India

Sitting on the balcony watching the beautiful pink and purple evening’s sky fade to black, hearing the nearby sea’s waves coming and going, seeing the jungle grow dark with the yellow light’s lamp post coming on, and hearing the hustle and bustle of the town: people talking, car and bus horns, some random drums being played somewhere, the clinging of metal pots as people wash their dishes, hearing them chat within their homes, somewhere there’s a baby crying.  Watching from above people moving in the quiet paths of the evening, coming in and out of their houses, children...

Count Your Blessings

This week our team finally celebrated our own holiday. In a country full of holidays just about every month, we were excited to celebrate a (pretty) traditional Thanksgiving holiday, stock full of fellowship and of course (American) food. We invited some of our Indian family to join us in the festivities and we spent the morning cooking (or resting), the afternoon at the beach, the evening around the dinner table eating tons of food, and the evening laughing at silly videos and lighting off fireworks. It was a wonderful holiday spent with the people I love in one of the many countries I...
