Lessons from the CP room (posted a week late)

Meant to post this last week, but ran out of Internet time! Regardless, here are some more words of love from India. Here's the scene: You're in India. Sweat is everywhere, drenching your clothes and beading off your brow. Mosquitos find their way to all exposed parts of your body, which typically only consist of arms, feet, neck, and face. Gnats swarm and flies gather. The sun is bright and warm and toasty. Yet all of all of these ingredients are necessary and appreciated, because this is what it is to live in India, to be a part of it all. You come to love the sweat and the bites...

Mixed Emotions

Even though I won’t be actually arriving at home for another 2 weeks, things are very quickly coming to an end here and I find myself thinking about all the things I will be happy to be home for. Even more than that, I'm thinking about the things I‘m going to miss terribly when I leave this place that I've come to love with my whole heart. Although it may seem a little premature to make a post about those things, next Sunday we will be on a train headed for Hyderabad and the next time we have internet may not be till we are in Dubai next Thursday and even then it may not...

Come to the Healing Waters

This may seem like a bit of a doozy, but this blog will show you more of my life on the Internet than Facebook ever will. Seven years ago, this week, I accepted Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior at church camp. Our camp director described the numerous qualities of God through the qualities of water. My favorite quality, seven years later, is comparing God to healing water (a good reference is the episode in season 1 or 2 of “Avatar:: The Last Airbender” where the main character, Aang, tries to learn fire bending too early and ends up hurting his good friend, Katara.)...

Daily Surprises

Everyday here in India is full of surprises. Whether that be a completely different schedule to the day than what was planned, to random people constantly flowing through  the home we are staying at with some occasionally drinking all of our water. Or, it might be a special surprise specifically planned by God for us that day.  Throughout my time here I find that I'm constantly being provided and cared for. The Lord constantly sees my needs and tends to them in beautiful ways. When I'm feeling low, he knows exactly how to put a smile on my face and how to fill me with...

Stained

Red and blue and orange and green and everything in between covered my arms, fingernails, feet, skirt, hair, face, legs, and pretty much every part of me. This was not for a few fleeting moments or hours, but rather every hour of every day this week.  My team and I have been given the wonderful opportunity to paint the walls of new apartments into which some of the precious orphan girls will be moving. And, as a result, I am usually covered in paint.  And I have been reminded that as I am covered in paint, I am even more importantly covered by the blood of the Lamb. I wish that my...

Hey… You can walk

There’s a little girl here (for her sake lets call her J), and she can walk. And while that might not seem like a huge thing, it is undoubtedly one of the most amazing things I have seen in my lifetime. Because for one so small and with a disability like hers, it is an amazing feet to accomplish, especially here in India. And since coming to India a little over a month ago I have watched J firsthand flourish into a spitfire little girl who will trample you if you don’t get out of her way fast enough. A little girl who giggles lots and asks for hugs boldly, who loves with a...
