It’s the moment you don’t scream when there is a spider on your bed or around your bed. It’s the moment when you don’t freak out at the trail of ants leading to the spider that you killed earlier.
(They did leave a nice clean spot after. They know how to clean there plates. 🙂 ) And it’s the moment you don’t have a spaz attack when a lizard enters your suitcase. It’s the moment when you just don’t care. You just don’t care that you may not have water for a shower, you just don’t care whether or not you even take a shower if you do have water, you just don’t care that you smell like sour baby milk, (mostly because everyone around you smells the same way and it would be weird if you didn’t.), you just don’t care that when you are riding on something in the streets that there aren’t any traffic rules and if there are any they are thoroughly ignored, you just don’t care that you are about an inch from and accident and if you are at all like me you actually try to get the seat next to the other side of the road just so you can see how close you can get to the other cars without actually getting damaged, you just don’t care that you are sweating…right after you get out of that cold shower. You. Just. Don’t. Care.
Who would have thought that when a bat entered our room that I actually would have been sad that I missed it because I was in the stink’n shower! The things one finds enthralling when in a different setting.
Learning to set aside the things I am used to and my dear of the things that creep on me that shouldn’t, has been challenging. Sure I am used to the lizards invading my private space ( I actually find them rather cute), and sure I am used to finding spiders on the wall but there is something hugely important about surrendering my fears and giving up the things that are “normal” for me. God calls us to so much and giving Him everything is one of the things He calls us to. How many of you, when you honestly check yourselves, are able to say that if God asks you to do something like go into all the world and preach my gospel, would drop everything and GO? Stop caring about your comforts or whether or not you smell good or whether or not you should make chicken for dinner or burgers. Check yourselves, are you where God want you to me? Start caring about His calling in your life and stop caring about what the world does.
