I love everything about this place. I love the twenty four children that we get to love. I love the ten girls I get to live with and learn from. I love Pastor Sam and his sweet wife Bayulla and their amazing example of commitment to our Heavenly Father. I love our AMAZING God!
So much has happened I don’t even know where to start. There are 16 boys from ages 7-11, and 8 girls ages 5-10. The girls don’t speak English, but are catching on. Please keep these precious girls in your prayers. We are continually in prayer that they would be accepted into school. As of now they are denied acceptance because they have no previous education. We get to tutor the boys after school for two hours every afternoon 2:30-4:30.
We are so blessed with our living conditions. We have an adorable little apartment with four small rooms and even an indoor squatty. We have running water half the time and usually have electricity. Our schedule is pretty flexible,we get to choose what it looks like. We have team time before breakfast at 10:00. All the meals are cooked by Bayulla at the Asha house.Then we can stay and hang out with the girls or do some other forms of ministry.
My favorite part of each day is when everybody gathers for worship each night at 6. Watching the kids pour their hearts out to their Heavenly Father in their own language is so awesome!
Monday we got to go on a prayer walk through the outskirts of Calcutta. It was so overwhelming but amazing at the same time. We got to pray over so many people. Calcutta is only 0.1% christian. The need here is so great. It is so easy to become discouraged and feel helpless, but then I am reminded that God loves these people more than I could ever begin to imagine. I keep reminding myself that I can not save the countless thousands, I can only love each person that God places in front of me with His unconditional love.
God is working in amazing ways here in Calcutta. I am left in awe that I get to witness this. We truly serve a great God! Continue to pray for these precious children, the staff here, our team, and this whole city. Pray that God would do the unimaginable through our team, and that we would have the boldness and courage to be obedient in all situations.
