The Road to Freedom

Training camp. Crazy, challenging, sleeping outside under a tarp, prayerful, Spirit filled, surrender, laughter, celebrations, people on fire for the Lord, having water spit in my face, excitement, freedom…all of these words go into what training camp has been.
Our team is beautiful. Six of us college age women and Heidi, our leader. In our team there is so much strength, beauty, emotion, love, obedience, and wisdom. We spent our first night together laughing and have drawn closer ever since. We have worshipped together, learned together, had fun together, and now we are ready to go together.
We have been hardcore challenged at training camp. The biggest challenge for me has been surrender. To surrender something in my life that I may feel entitled to, that is holding me back from fully following Jesus, and therefore will hold me back from what God is calling me to do in India. What I had to surrender was my pride. My need to receive approval from others and have my needs met first.
What I experienced last night is when I surrendered this pride that has been holding me back and this fear of rejection was freedomTrue freedom. This freedom leads to a deeper trust in Him. And a deep trust in Him leads to confidence. Confidence that God is speaking to me and that I can hear Him. Confidence that my story is worth sharing. Confidence that I have the Holy Spirit within me which means that I have access to His mighty power. Confidence that I can declare truth and that means it is actually true. There is power in the name of Jesus, and when I declare something in His name I declare something in His power.
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
-2 Timothy 1:6-7
We have been fanning into flame the gift of God. It is growing bigger and bigger. This is happening because of the Spirit God gave that is being unleashed. One that gives us power in Jesus’ name, immense love for India and each other, and self-discipline to chose to obey God and do the hard things.
