The Suffering Is Real

“My dear children, without our suffering, our work would just be social work, very good and helpful, but it would not be the work of Jesus Christ, not part of the redemption, Jesus wanted to help us by sharing our life, our loneliness, our agony and death. All that He has taken upon Himself, He has carried it in the darkest night, only by being one with us has he redeemed us. We are allowed to do the same, all the desolation of the poor people, not only their material poverty, but also their spiritual destitution, must be redeemed and we must share in it.”

Such words resemble Paul’s letter to the Galatians, “My little children, of whom I am in labour again, until Christ is formed in you!”

Over breakfast the other morning, a teammate and I were discussing these words Mother Teresa had said. We are blessed to be suffering here, and I know I haven’t written about it yet, but we are suffering. There is a spirit of oppression and a spirit of exhaustion here that is evident around us, but that we are fighting as well. Our team is uplifting each other to walk and live in spirits of justice, truth, light, and life instead. Please pray that The Lord Almighty fills each of us with His Supernatural Strength as we suffer for The Kingdom.
